why don't you (daniel - as project leader) invite ALL community-members via 
the general mailing-list to donate for that???
they all will benefit of that project. and maybe they ARE willing to donate.

and, a lot of peaple don't even know, that there is such a thing like the 
marketing-list!!!
i, for my part, have already forwarded that request to the 
typo3-user-group-austria.

i don't think that donation is only a task for marketing-list-members or 
typeheads (although they maybe understand the importance a little bit 
quicker ;-)
