This is the main advantage and a very important fact, since most of the
customers (and a lot of newbie users) believe TYPO3 is just a CMS with
different functionalities.
We had a discussion about that in the english list
http://typo3.org/documentation/mailing-lists/english-main-list-archive/thread/110102742
and Kasper himself made an excellent definition of what TYPO3 really is:
Setting up a site/template with TYPO3 is like an unassembled aircompressor,
so it does take some knowledge to assemble it to serve the special need you
have.
For a customer this means:
TYPO3 can be almost any tool you want it to be but you may need the help of
experienced consultancies to make it fit your special needs.
After building "your" tool with TYPO3 it will be flexible and easy to learn
and use even for users that are not very experienced.
Another thing:
As far as I understood, the "demosite" and the "testsite" are two different
things. So maybe it still makes sense to relaunch a new testsite with a lot
more examples of the current TYPO3 functionalities than the demosite will
show. I know this is not the place to discuss this, but I have two
questions:
1. Can I setup an official project "testsite relaunch" where people can
place their solutions for different needs?
The main goal of this project will be to create a working online version of
the new testsite and an additional package for the download section.
2. Who is responsible for the typo3.org/NG entries for such a project?
Maybe we could reuse some of the examples of this testsite for the demosite
or vice versa.
What do you think?
