[Typo3-marketing] Universities and Schools

Bonjour everyone,

Let me introduce myself a bit.

My name is Patrick Gaumond, webmaster at Faculté des sciences de
l'administration (FSA) at Université Laval in Québec City, Canada.

I got the webmaster duty in 1998 and I'm supervising a team of 3-4
people doing web development. We use Windows Active Server Pages (ASP)
technology as our web development tools and have 5 web servers still
running NT 4.0 and are doing a major migration to a Windows Server 2003
Web Farm for the end of this year.

I'm really interested in the TYPO3-as-a-LMS project since we developed a
few web modules to enhance the students learning experience over the
last 4 years.

I was unable to find anything about "vif-vw.de" or "www.vif-vw.de" Can
you give us more info about them ?

Here in Québec city at FSA (the Business School) we developped our own
learning tools back in 1999 and since had to integrate our tools with
WebCT wich is the "official" Learning Management System (LMS) of the
University.

Right now TYPO3 is still not use on our server but it should go live in
a few weeks. There's 1200 html pages waiting to be generated to give our
site a major overhaul.

Here's our plan so far

Phase 1: All the "administrative" site (informations about programs,
courses, services, funds) inside TYPO3 and generated as physical HTML
files once a day.

Phase 2: Migration to a "real" TYPO3 installation with pages served from
TYPO3 in a Web Farm environment.

Phase 3: Integration of teachers' personnal pages and a few courses.
Connection to LDAP will be unavoidable.


In another email I will give recommendations based on what we think is
necessary for a "TYPO3-as-a-LMS" project.

Maybe we should have a codename ?  ; )
