- some of the subscribers are deaktivated because of full mailboxes or other
bounces
- this huge number is still near the number of people, while additionaly a
LOT of people use the news-server anyway...

As people using the newsserver do not need to subscribe to the list, there
is no estimation possible saying how many people are actualy reading the
list.
