I don't know if Typo3 can be successfully installed to Ubuntu 13.10, but I do encounter a very strange difficult running the installation tool:
No matter how hard I tried, it kept telling me database connection failure:
Connecting to SQL database failed with these settings:
Username: elim
Host: localhost
But I can run phpmyadmin with the same user and password, and
mysql shell worked just fine:
elim at uLnx:~/Downloads/php_CMS$ mysql -uelim -preason2
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 79

------------------------------
The system is Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit
MySQL version 5.5.35 (Too new?)
How typo3 connect to MySQL? How can I debug and find out what's exactly wrong?
Thanks a lot for any help. (I just installed mybb with no problems, that gave me some hope on typo3)
