[TYPO3-linux] Installation problem

I am trying to install Typo3 for the first time.

Problem:

In function 'open',
    inlined from 'msgdomain_list_print' at write-catalog.c:223:
/usr/include/bits/fcntl2.h:51: error: call to '__open_missing_mode'
declared with attribute error: open with O_CREAT in second argument needs
3 arguments

And then the installation stops. I think this is while installing gettext.

(I have more details logged if need be.)

I am installing, following this readme:

http://www.typo3-installer.de/download/README.txt

and using this script:

http://www.typo3-installer.de/fileadmin/build4.2_all.sh

The script will (among other things) install
+ Apache 2.2.13
+ PHP 5.3.0

I am using Ubuntu 9.0.4.

I hope this is info enough for someone to suggest something.
