[TYPO3-linux] Backend login error

Installation of source package typo3_src+dummy-4.1.2 worked fine (at least I

I browsed the list archives and found a number of messages with the same
related topic, but no clear answer to the problem, to my opinion, and
different contexts. I verified all permissions on the folders (755), and
even set localconf.php to 777.

I have then added a new admin user via the install tool / basic config page,
and verified it was correctly stored in database. But, i still can¹t login.

I have of course my cookies enabled (my browser shows me my ³domain coockie²
according to what I specified in the install tooll), and I retried several
times with same result. I¹m just stuck there...
Another thing is that I don¹t have access to front end site neither. I get:

Error!
No pages are found on the rootlevel!

I tought this typo3_src+dummy-4.1.2 was to install a dummy test site, but I
guess I missed a step somewhere...

Can you give me a couple of first direction to work with?
