Is it possible to use PostgreSQL instead of MySQL?

I am running CentOS 4.3 (RHEL 4 clone) with these RPMs installed:

php-pear-4.3.9-3.9
php-4.3.9-3.9
php-odbc-4.3.9-3.9
php-pgsql-4.3.9-3.9
php-xslt-4.3.9-3.9
php-gd-4.3.9-3.9
postgresql-7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1
postgresql-server-7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1
postgresql-libs-7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1
postgresql-pl-7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1
postgresql-odbc-7.3-8.RHEL4.1
postgresql-devel-7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1
postgresql-tcl-7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1
httpd-2.0.52-22.ent.centos4
gd-devel-2.0.28-4.4E.1
gd-2.0.28-4.4E.1

I just downloaded and installed typo3_src 4.0.2 and dummy 4.0.2:

sauron.deepsoft.com% ls -lF /var/www/typo3/
total 8
drwxr-xr-x  6 apache apache 4096 Sep 11 03:18 dummy-4.0.2/
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root     15 Sep 18 12:36 typo3_src -> typo3_src-4.0.2/
drwxr-xr-x  5 apache apache 4096 Sep 11 03:18 typo3_src-4.0.2/
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root     11 Sep 18 12:35 WWW -> dummy-4.0.2/

Do I really have to have MySQL installed? I use PostgreSQL for all of
my current DBMS needs (and have a large investment in PostgreSQL, in
terms of code, etc.). PHP itself should (does) work with PostgreSQL. I
also have unixODBC installed as well as php's odbc interface installed.
