[TYPO3-linux] Problem installing 4.0 with build4.0_full.sh from installer.de

Trying to install Typo3 v4 on a new Fedora Core 5 server (FC5) using the
script build4.0_full.sh and/or build4.0_all.sh from 
 
http://www.typo3-installer.de
 
The installation fails as follows:

[root at ivor ~]# locate config.log

I can't locate config.log.
 
As for as I can tell GD is installed (gd-2.0.33-6.2), it seems the
script can't find it.

I am relatively new to Linux and thought this script would be the best
way to install to a new server, any help gratefully accepted
