If you can shell then:

INSTALLING TYPO3 IN THE WEBROOT FOLDER
======================================
1 Follow the steps 1-6 above. (INSTALL.TXT)

2 Move the files in the dummy-<version>/ folder up one level.
  $ cd dummy-<version>
  $ mv * ../
  $ cd ../
  $ ls -la

3 Update the symlink
  $ rm typo3_src
  $ ln -s ./typo3_src-<version> typo3_src

4 Now TYPO3 runs in http://[your.site.name]/

That's it :-)
