[TYPO3-linux] chgrp not permitted - what to do?

By incidence I found that as long as I don't chmod the files according 
to the line in the INSTALL.txt file that comes with the package - there 
seems to be no errors and I can access the files. I have to set rights 
then though manually - not really the thing to do! No real solution of 
course.
If someone has a real one that would be great :D
