[Typo3-linux] If i stop and then click again the page load quicly

Still performance issues for my sites...i don't know if the cause is my 
VPS ( maybe too poor ? ) or some bad typo3 settings by me.

Very often when i click to call a page the browser wait from 3 to 10 
seconds before showing/loading the page. But if i call the page and then 
immediately i click on the STOP browser button and then i click again on 
the link to re.call the same page...THEN the page load quickly !

Is it normal ?

Instead the loading of page where typo3 show thumbanails rendered on the 
fly by graphicsmagick ( example a galley ) is veeeery very slow...about 
16 to 30 seconds for renderding the gallery thumbs

This is my first site in typo3 and i thought that a VPS with 256mb 
granteed was enough but now i'm lost, i don't know if it's a hardware 
issue or a bad typo3 configuration :(
