1) in the www root
wget
http://optusnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/typo3/typo3_src-3.7.1.tar.gz
wget http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/typo3/dummy-3.7.1.tar.gz
Untar both ( I missed this out last time)
2) Visit the install tool
www.domain.com/typo3/install/
Follow the instructions to comment out the die command
Then revisit the install tool again and you should see some great settings
to play with. For the permissions and database and paths etc.
3) A new admin user
In the database section you can create a new TYPO3 admin user. Create one
and use this to log in to the administration interface of TYPO3
domain.com/typo3/
If it lets you in, click 'Page' at the top left and the globe to try and
expand the 'tree' if the pages are all there great the db was imported
correctly.
4) These files you have from the rarball can be copied to overwrite the
existing ones but not until after you have logged into the administration
interface of TYPO3.
These folders contain the old website images and templates and extensions
etc.
How far have you got now?
Matthew
