[Typo3-linux] Arghh! New host and images not showing.....

Regards all,

I have just moved a perfectly good TYPO3 installation to a new linux web
host.

Everything installed fine and especially GM with a full selection of image
processing ticks in the install tool.

All my extensions are in place and working.

TYPO3 is running as the apache-user

My thumbnails are not displayed but showing the 'No Thumb Generated' image
instead.

In the front end the images generated by TYPO3 via GM are not displaying and
in the source are coming up:

<img src="" width="" height="" border="0" alt="" title="" />

I have tried both the static IM and GM's and all the tests work fine yet the
same problem occurs no images.

I am sure this is a permissions problem somewhere.

I see that it has been asked and apparently solved quite a few times but
they don't have the solutions posted that I could find.

Please any clues to save my end of the week deadline?
