Hi Cato,
as you are using a predefined template for your site, things are 
unnecessarily hard to get a grip to, at first.
You definitely need to get some experience in TYPO3 concepts and 
TypoScript especially. Browse typo3.org for documentation: the golive 
tutorial and "modern template building, part 1" (building you site with 
your own TS and HTML templates).

The codelines above need to be inserted in the TS-Setup of your 
template. By default in the template you use the right, border and left 
columns are not used at all, IIRC.
