You're welcome!

ImageMagick 4.2.9 is in fact recommended, however 5.x works well, too on
my system. Effort has been put into getting Typo3 to work with 5.x as
well, which you can see at various configuration options in the Typo3
install tool which are related to IM 5.x. However it seemed like things
even changed within 5.x- from minor version to minor version, so it is
really hard to support any IM version.

But better times semm to be coming:

The next major version of Typo3 will AFAIK work without ImageMagick
because Kasper was able to reproduce the functions which were only
offered by ImageMagick up to now by using only GDLib, so there will be
no more need for ImageMagick in future.
I'm not absolutely sure about this, but have heard (and partly seen)
about that in Splügen during the snowboard tour 2003.

BTW, Typo3 does also work well without image manipulation features!

I hope you'll soon discover all the great abilities of Typo3!
