[Typo3-linux] Newbie Install Question - Missing FC Bigfeet menu logo

Hello all. Thanks in advance for reading my post, and my apologies in
advance if this is the wrong list. :-) I went through the list archives,
and although I found a similar post there were no replies. Here's the
deal... I installed the Typo3 quickstart package and everything seems to
be working except the image processing, the FC Bigfeet logo above the
menu is missing. (Typo3 refers to this as the "Logo-file, menu frame")
In the Install Tool, under Basic Configuration, I'm told that FreeType
is not installed. Under Image Processing-Reading AI file types cannot be
read, under Image Processing-Scaling GIF to JPG results in a white
rather than transparent background (not sure this is a problem), under
Image Processing-Combining the combing using a GIF mask w/ black and
white results in a uniform green image (but the original test image is
half green as well, even after I re-downloaded it), and
Image-Processing-GD Library Functions results in the error message
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagettfbbox()." That last
message is due to FreeType missing, yes? Can I live without FreeType?
Anyway, what's broken and what do I need to do to fix it? I'm using
cheapo web hosting right now, and I'm not sure I can convince them to
upgrade their software. However, if you know exactly what I need to ask
of them I could try. Thanks so much for your help, I'm really looking
forward to getting Typo3 up and running, I'm very excited about all the
possibilities.. Thanks!
