I have heard many people doing the central installation.  It could be messy
with Ensim because everything is symlinked already for the virtual sites.
Haven't tried it.  The same doc has stuff on symlinking for fast upgrades
and such.   For symlink:  http://tinyurl.com/i719   I would rather have
completely different source code copies so my customers can change things.
