[TYPO3-install] fatal error session start

HI all

I hope you can help me

I'm just about ready to give up on Typo3 all together

On my first installation attempt I got all the usual problems - fatal error,
not enough memory etc etc and ended up with a half installation

I could log into the backend but had no introduction package/template etc.

I deleted all the Typo3 files from my server, fixed the memory problem with
php.ini, deleted the database and made a new one, and then reloaded all the
introduction package.

I followed all the installation steps right to the end where it says go to
your website.  When I do I get this message:

Not Found

The requested URL /get-started/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an
ErrorDocument to handle the request.

If I try to get to the login for the backend I get:

 

Fatal error: session_start() [<a
href='function.session-start'>function.session-start</a>]: Failed to
initialize storage module: files (path: ) in
/home/toto9699/public_html/typo3/index.php on line 97

 

I've looked at this line and it's about the url redirect

I have no idea how to fix this. I can't find anything about this in the
archives

Any help would be greatly appreciated
