[Typo3-install] newbie who has read the manual needs help with a db error (he thinks).

Dear Typo3 members,

 

I am new to typo3 and have read the install manuals.  I have gotten to the
install part that shows the 1,2,3 window, but there is an error over the
image.  The error says:

 

Warning: mysql_list_tables(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link
resource in d:\virtuals\userurl_com\ \Web\t3lib\class.t3lib_db.php on line
967.

 

I seem to remember reading that this error relates to a setting on the mysql
db.  Can someone help?
