[Typo3-install] can't install

Hi,
First time I am installing Typo3 on a public server. I have installed it on
my computer many times, which is on windows, iis and  mysql and all are OK.
When I installed the latest version, typo3 4.0.1 on a public server which is
on linux red hat, I am getting the error message after the first step in
1-2-3 steps as follows:

I can't figure out what's the problem.
This is my case: Firstly  I have uploaded tar.gz version, and got it untared
by server people, as I haven't shell access. But later I uploaded whole
files of zip version and earlier symlinks are still existing as I can't
delete them using FTP.
Please help me to solve the problem.
