[TYPO3-german] Typo 4.5.13 PHP 5.2 und 1&1

Hallo Leute, meine Homepage wurde mit Typo3 Version 4.5.13 aufgesetzt, die mit der PHP-Version 5.2 wunderbar funktioniert. Das Hosting der Homepage ist bei 1&1.
Nun teilt 1&1 mit, dass die PHP Version 5.2 nicht mehr länger kostenlos unterstützt wird. Ich habe bereits nacheinander die von 1&1 angebotenen PHP-Versionen 5.4, 5.5 und 5.6 aktiviert und gestestet. Das Resultat war katastrophal (s.u.).

Will ich auf eine höhere PHP-Version umstellen, werde ich auch auf eine aktuellere Version von Typo3 umsteigen müssen (was ich gerne machen würde). Jedoch möchte ich keinerlei Verluste in Struktur und Funktionalität der bestehenden Homepage riskieren. Wie aus der Anfrage erkennbar sein könnte, bin ich eher Laie im Umgang mit Typo3.

Was könnt Ihr mir empfehlen?
