[TYPO3-english] Style rendering problem in IE 11 / Internet Explorer 11

Web page style in left navigation renders (padding) badly  with IE 11 browser, (the Internet Explorer 11 browser).  
We have TYPO3  version 7.6  
I found a suggestion  to change the HTTP header response field value to treat Internet Explorer (IE) browser  as a Microsoft Edge browser;
     X-UA-Compatible:  IE=edge
But where does one make that change?     Or, is there a better solution?
