Hi all,
eventually I chose a more smooth approach:
MariaDB.

Now there's the first test server up and happily running with:

CentOS 7
Typo3 7.4
HTTPD 2.4
PHP 5.5.29 (compiled from source)
MariaDB 10.1

Everything is running good and we're beginning to explore typo3 features. I'm exploring more the development aspect while the others the content management.
