[TYPO3-english] tx_news localization

Good day!
I´m using Typo3 6.2.14 with the tx_news extension (by Georg Ringer). Everything works fine, except the language of the text-elements ("created by XX", "back", previous"....) and the date format. How can I edit those entries? I´ve already tried to change the locallang.xfl located in typo3conf/ext/news/resources/private/language, which didn´t had an effect to the frontend.

Btw, in previous versions of tx_news I´ve just configured it via Typoscript, which seems to be impossible now.
