Thank you, Jan! I had to add

addQueryString = 1
addQueryString.method = GET
addQueryString.exclude = id, L

in order to make the language switch work.

However, since addQueryString only works for special=language, the above lines of code didn't fix the breadcrumb nav.

Any ideas?
