I think it would be much better to invest in security, and update at
least to the last 4.5 LTS Verion !!! or better (because of 4.5 is
depreciated since month) upgrade to the actual stable 6.2 LTS Version...
(and then do a monthly maintenance)

...i don't wonder that you have problems on your site (and installing
extensions), when this ist never been updated since almost 4 years...
