[TYPO3-english] Consuming REST webservice

Hi,

I need to display content from a REST webservice on a Typo 3 version 6.5 and on another with version 4.5. I'm new to Typo3 so I'm a little lost on how to solve this problem. What would be the best approach to accomplish this?

I found some extensions that allow consuming REST webservices but they only seem to work on version 6
typo3.org/extensions/repository/?id=23&L=0&q=rest

Can this only be done using an extension?
