Hello,

Not an answer you asked, but might help.
Ronald Eijkman had created great website http://typo3buddy.com/ and it 
is tutorial how to implement HTML template in TYPO3.
So you do not need TYPO3 template, but any HTML template, and you have 
much more freedom...
