Hi.

Depending on your execution model, you can kill the php processes belonging to a certain user (the one that represents your web).
Other than that you cannot circumvent it. Xcache oviously fails to notice the changed symlink.

* A (php) script for clearing the cache could help you.
* Adjust xcache to stat the files for changes (less ideal)
