Do you have a link to the commit that should have fixed the issue?
We have only found github.com/FluidTYPO3/vhs/issues/654 (certainly not the issue/fix you were referring to) and are still experiencing this problem with a completely fresh install using all latest typo3fluid extensions from development branches
