[TYPO3-english] Which Version shall i use

Hello Community.
I am a little confused about which Version of typo3 i shall use.

I experimented with 6.1.7 and 6.2.1 now.

What i want: A small website for our sports club.
I like to use gb_events but it doesnt work with 6.2.x
I like to use a person data base, but all i found need a 6.2 as minimum.

I see a lot of extension which say 6.0 - 6.1.99.

Any idea which version is best to use rigth now.
