Dear Forum Users,
I am a complete newbie and very keen to learn how to use Typo3. I have spent 2 days trying to install it but nothing seems to work. I am following step-by-step instructions from a book by Dirk Louis and also anything I can find on the internet. I have downloaded and extracted all the files for the Dummy & Source packs into my Apache Server folder exactly as explained. The next step tells me to open a browser and type in http://localhost/beispielsite (the name of my new folder) or http://localhost:8205/beispielsite Either way I get the following error:

Strict Standards: Non-static method t3lib_div::getClassName() should not be called statically in G:\xampp\htdocs\Beispielsite\t3lib\class.t3lib_div.php on line 4927
No database selected

The book doesn't say what to do if that step doesn't work! Can somebody please help me? Nothing I have searched for on the internet helps. Much of it is far too complicated to even understand, let alone follow. Is there someone out there who can take pity and explain in newbie terms what I am doing wrong if anything? I am using Windows 7, have a separate hard disk partition with Apache and MySql installed. I created the new folder 'Beispielsite' as instructed and extracted all Typo3 files into it.

Thank you!

Jules
