I never needed any kind of programming knowledge for the installation of the 
stable releases of TYPO3.

BTW: Christian rewrote/refactored large parts of the install tool:
https://github.com/lolli42/TYPO3.CMS-Catharsis/commits/master/typo3/sysext/install

I hope this is still coming for 6.2
