blank page mostly means: PHP-error => increase debugging infos
blank BE-page : propably you have this error in your configuration.

you may test your installation with a new localconf.php (-4.7) or 
LocalConfiguration.php + AdditionalConfiguration.php (6.0-) by renaming 
the existing one and running the Install-Tool again.
(as LocalConfiguration.php is generated by script it should be error free.)

otherwise have a look at http://pi-phi.de/291.html and insert the code 
to localconf.php or AdditionConfiguration.php (don't forget to set your IP)
