the problem is solved.
it was very difficult to track down the responsible extension.
to make it short: it was the update of DAM which generated the problem.

the pages where i had the problem (crawler showed an error 500) hadd 
pics that were inserted in the old "picture" field instead of the "DAM 
Media" field.

it would have been nice if there would have been a hint in the 
EXT-update that this old field is not supported anymore...
