[TYPO3-english] PageTSconfig doesn't work

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to configure a client's backend with some pageTSconfig, but 
everything I put in there seems to be ignored. I'm not sure why, as it 
works in my own TYPO3 environments.

Their TYPO3 version is 4.4.9.

Even a simple

"mod.wizards.newContentElement.renderMode = tabs"

doesn't work.

Anyone knows what might cause this or where to look?
