[TYPO3-english] tt_news_cache table filling up

my tt_news_cache table had over 3 million records in it. is this normal?

it appears the web server is holding a connection open with the database server and eventually all ram is consumed on the server itself and the site slows down to the speed of a slug.

when I restart the web server all connections to the database are dropped and the site returns to it's speedy and snappy state.

i've searched for known bugs on this but didn't find any results.

it appears that table just fills up, the records are never used?, and the table is never cleared.

any help is much appreciated.
