[TYPO3-english] sr_feuser_register date format in Mail notifications for custom field

Hi there,
I extended sr_feuser_register with a custom field: tx_extend_join_date_comp, it's configured as a date field in TCA.
Everything works fine, except for the marker in mail notifications:

###FIELD_tx_extend_join_date_comp###

It gets replaced with the timestamp value only.
How can I  have it been replaced with a formatted date string?
