[TYPO3-english] How to make images appear - coming out of the HTML Template Base

Hello - new to TYPO3 and am trying to get images to render as set in the 
HTML template but the path does not work.
The Alt Text and space holders are appearing  - but not the actual 
images > the image path is broken.

Am on 4.4.4

The html template is in /fileadmin/layout/
The images are in /fileadmin/layout/imgs/

 >> at the bottom of page, beneath logos, the Alt Text  of non-rendered 
images is "Facebook Link Twitter Link  Youtube Link"
