[TYPO3-english] opening target to file as external url

Hi,

TYPO3 4.5.2

When an editor wants to have a file as a page (menu item), he makes a page type "Link to External URL" and this page is linked to a file and normally you want to open the files in new window.

Now in General tab there is the URL element/page browser how he chooses the link and naturally if he wants to open the file in new window would choose he would choose this in this dialogue at "Target" select "New window". But this doesn't work. The file link gets corrupted with mysite.com/mypath/myfile.pdf%20_blank

so the %20 part corrupts the link.

Instead the editor has to NOT CHOOSE the target in previous mentioned dialogue, but go to Behaviour tab and just know to type _blank in Link target field.

So not very user friendly. (Actually it would be easier to editors anyway to have select box in Link Target, not input field)

Another thing: why dosen't the file as external url open automatically to new window when "normal" external url's do that?

Or am I doing this completely wrong?  :)
