[TYPO3-english] Link to file in menu

Hello,

Is it possible to make a link to a file in menu in Typoscript way? Or should I write a custom PHP script like here 
http://www.typo3wizard.com/en/snippets/menus/create-menus-using-data-from-other-tables-than-pages.html
and place a file in any column?
