[TYPO3-english] tt_news 3.0.1 and default news id

I have upgraded from tt_news 2.5.2 to 3.0.1.  Running on typo3 4.2.12 .

I am using the option to have a default news id as described in the manual
modified to work with templavoila.  It worked fine in 2.5.2 and almost works
except for a strange thing in the 3.0.1 version.  When the page is hit, the
first news item shows in single view.  But when you click on another item
from the news list, the default news item does not show up in the list view.
 And as you continue clicking on news items from the list, it never does
appear back in the list view.  But it does appear in the previous and next
links in the single view.

Any thoughts?
