To be honest, FotoWare FotoWeb is a good solution, but it's not a cheap
solution and it has to many "borders" for my taste. Either cheap in
software or in hardware. If the number of concurrent users would exceed
125 and guest 300 you will probably pay about € 20 000 for software and
server, and then early SMA cost. You will also need a Windows server,
FotoWeb Server don't run under Linux, client don't run under Linux and
neither on all Macs (admin intterface).
You also have to ask if you need all functionality which FotoWeb has.
Personally I would never use FotoWeb or give any of my clients advice to
use it. It's to bound from A to Z to Microsoft software and solutions.
I agree that TYPO3 aren't the perfect solutions (far from), but there
are installation with DAM already which has that amount of
pictures/documents. DAM has good support for EXIF/IPTC/XMP through services.
