[TYPO3-english] tt_news searchWhere hook

Hi list,
I'm trying to make a search by date in tt_news. I've read in a german forum
that i could use hooks for this : searchWhere and additionalFormSearchFields
but I don't know how to use them.
what I already know :

- I have to declare in localconf my new functions.
- I have to write my new functions to extend the ttnews search.

What i need to know :
- how do I add the new input form marker ?
- how do I get the POST from my form ?

I'm trying to make it work for more than two monthes, please s.o. help !
