[TYPO3-english] Updating and migrating OS 32Bit -> 64Bit and MySQL 4.1 -> 5.0 and TYPO3 4.2 -> 4.3

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my TYPO3 installation to a new server and nearly
everything may change :-)

The old system is RH EL 4, 32Bit, php 5.2.5, MySQL 4.1, TYPO3 4.2.11.

The new systme is/should be RH EL 5, 64Bit, php 5.2.11, MySQL 5.0 TYPO3
4.2.11, later updated to 4.3.

The new system is still for testing.

What did I do and how did I start.

At first I installed the testsystem with the default settings, shut down
the live system and copied the webserver-, MySQL- and php-config, the
website directory. I dumped the whole databases and imported is on the
new server. Everything is UTF8 already.

Than I checked and adjusted the config files (path, IP, ...) as needed
and started the test installation.

The webpage is up and running and mutch more faster than the old one.

But!

There are some strange problems in the backend:

BE Users are no longer able to log in beside one!

Creating a new BE admin user from the installtool or the BE fails. The
user is added to the database, but can't log in.

If I change the name of the user which is able to log in, he is also denied!

Furthermore the pagetree in the BE is "messed" up:

There is one Base-Folder with all my pagetree beneath AND at the same
level as the main folder there is a second Home and a second Media folder.

Strange.

As suggested from my earlier posting, I installed the devlog extension,
addusted some mysql settings (sql-mode=MYSQL4), cleared all caches and
all tempfiles I can find, loged in from different computers with
different browsers.

Everywhere the same problem and no messages or hints on what's going on.

Any (more) ideas?
