Maybe, just maybe you shouldn't use an *external* link to link to an 
*internal* page?
If you need to link to a certain record (e.g. an tt_news item) you can 
use the extension "linkhandler". Using this extension you can create 
extra tabs in the link popup for making links to certain record types.
