[TYPO3-english] conditions: look if field is true

hey,

I need to see if a field is true and then do something.
A condition should do the job

I thought this would work, but it doens't:
[globalVar = DB:tt_news:tx_mctcal_imgisportrait = 1]

	mctimg = 270px
[else]
	mctimg = 590px
[end]


any idea what is wrong ?
