[TYPO3-english] Converting DATE to INT

Hi All

We are having the following Problem:

Data has been created with an external PHP Application which now should be
integrated into TYPO3. Unfortunately this PHP Application is using always
the DATE format instead the TYPO3 typical INT format for dates.

Does anybody know a way to CONVERT the DATE to INT so that the typo3 value
will be available again in the database for the extensions to be used.
Until now we found only post that it isn't possible at all, or they modify
the extensions so that it uses DATE instead of INT which would cause to
loose the possibility to update at all!
