[TYPO3-english] Strange problems - FE Login not working, some empty BE settings and more

Hi,

we run a Redhat EL 5.4 Server (Typo3 4.2.10, mysql-server-4.1.22,
php-5.2.5).

Over the last weeks I noticed some strange things:

1) Our FE Users can't log in any more. We used an imap-sysn extension
for about one year now without problems: If the user has an valid
e-mail-account, he/she was also created as an FE user.

Now the "failed" logins are redirected to the default login-failed-page,
but the menues with the german umlauts disapeered. ...


2) In the BE there is a symbol in the page tree media, white with an red
"?" where doses this come from?

3) from time to time after login in to the BE the pagetree is totaly
collapsed, somtime it is opend in the state I left the be closing the
browser ...

4) my settings for teh extension update (e.g repo user name, show shy
extensions) are empty.


Any ideas, any suggestions?
